Introduction and Art that interest me!
Hello everyone! My name is Heather McAloon. I am a military spouse for the past 6 1/2 years, I have a 15 month old son named Tobias Dawson, and I have 3 dogs (a black lab named Mystic Eclipse and 2 husky retriever mixes named Hunter and Kodiak) and a cat named Garfield. I just currently moved to North Pole Alaska, but I am originally from Georgia. I have lived in Georgia, Colorado, New York, and not Alaska. So, far I have loved Alaska. I am in school for my Bachelors in Elementary Education and a minor in Early Childhood Education. I am set to graduate at the beginning of May 2023. My goal is to work at a school district. Right now, I currently teach at a school age center.
I have attached one of the images from the Ice Sculpture Art show in Fairbanks. This art is called "Fighter". I am originally from the lower 48 and I had never heard of Ice sculpture shows like these until I moved to Alaska. This art is amazing and I love going and looking at it. I went to the Art Show in 2021 and you could see all the fine lines and all the details that go into making them. Just thinking of it being a block of ice and then creating this masterpiece from it is amazing. I personally have not had a strong relationship with art, but I am slowly learning. I love photography and I used to think that is not art, but I am finding out it is art as well, just a different form. I used to doodle in class but I it was just to pass the time. I really enjoyed going to the ice festival though and I think I may start trying to go to more art shows now.Below is the link that will talk about all the ice sculptures and the art show and can give you more information. It is defiantly worth looking into!

There is another elementary education major in this class. I taught elementary school music for 21 years and I loved it. A very satisfying career. I am so glad you got to the ice show. Pretty incredible creations.
